Project Sunrise - An Early Intervention Program

Alabama's Early Intervention System

The Early Intervention program is working together with families and service providers to assist in meeting needs of infants and toddlers.
Some children need assistance in reaching developmental milestones.  An evaluation can determine if the child may benefit from early intervention.

1-800-543-3098 is the Early Intervention Child Find number.  Parents, service providers or others may call this number or contact Bethany Ford (251-947-5608) directly.

Eligibility:  A child is eligible for early intervention services under the age of 3 and has at least a 25 percent delay or a diagnosis with a high probability of developmental delay in any of the five major areas of development:  Physical (Motor), Social/Emotional, Adaptive (Self-Help), Cognitive or Communication.

Evaluation
An evaluation is information about how your child is developing.  It is data gathered by you and your family, the people who know and spend time with your child, and the professionals who work with your child.
Evaluations are designed to identify your child's strengths and needs and to identify the early intervention services your child and family needs.
